REN MOROCCAN ROSE OTTO SUGAR BODY POLISH

The Moroccan Rose Otto range from Ren is raved about, but I have to say this is the only product that I’ve really fallen for (and repurchased thrice). Exfoliation is a great way to prep for summer, but I love this exfoliator all year round.

I’m a bath girl so what I particularly enjoy about this exfoliator is that I can use it on dry skin then hop in the bath and enjoy the rose essence. When I’m out I don’t have to faff around with moisturizer, the ingredients have already left my skin beautifully conditioned, soft and scented. Maximum results, minimum effort.

The sugar granules gently exfoliate skin, boosting cell turn over and enhancing skin renewal. Active ingredients include olive and almond oils to restore moisture and improve skin condition whilst theophylline (derived from Paraguay tea) and kola nut caffeine boost circulation, energize and tone. Damascus rose is also found on the ingredients. Renowned for treating dry, damaged skin, the scent is also incredibly uplifting… This is not your average exfoliator.

Price: £32

Ingredients: Saccharum Officinarum (Sugar), Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Glyceryl Stearate, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Parfum* (Fragrance), Rosa Damascena Flower Oil, Cymbopogon Martini Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, Geraniol, Linalool, Citronellol, Ilex Paraguariensis (Paraguay Tea) Leaf Extract, Cola Acuminata (Kola Nut) Seed Extract, Coco Glucoside, Tocopherol.

Have you got any favorites from the Moroccan Rose Otto range? I also really want to try the Ren Guerande Salt Exfoliating Body Balm.

CHOCOLATE SUN COCOA GLOW

This is a summer must have (and a winter like to have). It’s expensive but worth the pennies…

I can’t see this product having the ability to turn you shades darker than your natural skin tone, but I found it gives an amazing, natural glow, that definitely enhances skin tone and evens out the complexion.

I’ve read different reviews that suggest it is void of all fake tan smell. I can’t entirely agree with this – as I lay in bed I could definitely smell the familiar scent – but this doesn’t linger. As you apply it, it smells of lovely cocoa and although I can’t deny a fake tan scent as it develops, there’s no trace of this at all after a couple of hours.

One of the biggest benefits of this natural fake tan is its easy application. It’s highly moisturizing and you can slap it on fairly confidently without it streaking. It takes the same amount of time to dry as a normal moisturizer, and doesn’t transfer onto clothing. It’s foolproof.

This quick and easy fake tan has trustworthy ingredients and provides a natural sun kissed look. It’s definitely worth a purchase if you’re getting ready to bare all on the beach or just want a little extra colour! I got compliments on my colour having used this, and once I admitted it was fake, a number of people wanted to know what the products was...

Price: £26

Ingredients: Aqua, Dihydroxy acetone (DHA) derived from sugar beets, Helianthus annuus (sunflower seed) oil, Prunus dulcis (sweet almond) oil, Aloe barbadensis (aloe vera gel), Cocos nucifera (coconut oil), Simmondsia chinensis (jojoba oil), Cetearyl olivat, Sorbitan olivate, Butyrospermum parkii (shea butter), Glucono delta-lactone, Sodium benzoate, Calcium gluconate, Sodium PCA, Theobroma cacao (cocoa absolute), Vanilla planifolia (vanilla extract), Camellia sinensis (green tea leaf extract)

ILIA LIPSTICK: FEMME FATALE

I would describe this shade as less berry and more dark brick red. I had hoped for the former (I love me some berry shades) but it has actually turned out to be a hit for me anyway. The colour gets a lot of compliments and somehow makes teeth look whiter.

It lasts impressively well. I like to use a lip liner as well just to add definition and staying power (I’ve been using a red Borlind one). I will say that with too many layers, it can look and feel a little cakey and end up settling unevenly so don’t be tempted to get too heavy handed, one or two layers should be enough.

I have actually found that Ilia lipstick conditions my lips just as well as their lip conditioners, so if you’re umming and ahhing about which route to take (as I was) the decision here comes down to colour pay off (or get both as I did). If you prefer to go bold, go with the lipstick. The lip conditioners have a great colour pay off as well but are a little more sheer. It depends on preference… I’ve reviewed the Hold Me Now Ilia Lip Conditioner here.

I love Ilia! Have you tried their products?

LOVELULA BEAUTY BOX: MAY

I was really excited when I first received this months LoveLula box, but I have to say, none of the products have particularly wowed me. I liked a lot of them but maybe I’ve just been harder to please this month.

Swell Advanced Volumizing Shampoo And Conditioner: Very underwhelmed by these products. They’re OK but didn’t do too much for me.  A distinctly average hair duo.

Fresh Therapies Natural Nail Polish Remover: This came in the form of a little tube of liquid and a remover wipe. Loved the remover wipes - quick and easy to use as well as being effective (though it had a little more trouble around the cuticle area). The liquid was also good but I found it took a little longer to remove the polish (to give it the benefit of the doubt this could have been to do with the many layers of nail polish I was wearing)

Jane Iredale Just Kissed Lip & Cheek Stain: I love the idea of this, but it’s not something I can see myself personally using on a daily basis even though it’s quick and easy to use. I can see this being a wonder product for some, just not for me.

Pai Chamomile & Rosehip Calming Day Cream: I really liked this and am considering purchasing the full size. A really gentle cream, it moisturizes well but is a light formula that sinks in quickly. I found it really helped my oober sensitive skin and I liked the chamomile scent.

Pai Camelia & Rose Gentle Hydrating Cleanser: I’m not so into cream cleansers but I did like this... It somehow smells like lemon drops. As its title suggests, I found it to be a gentle cleanser that didn’t leave my skin remotely dry. It reminded me of the Dr Hauschka Cleansing Cream. A nice cleanser but it may have a little trouble with more stubborn makeup.

John Masters Blood Orange & Vanilla Body Milk: LoveLula have already sent this out in one of their boxes (tut tut) but I was actually perfectly happy to receive it again as I really liked it. Read a fuller review here.

Have you had any experience with any of the products in this months LoveLula box?
